About Us
P.S. 62 The Chester Park School, located in Richmond Hill, Queens, is a pre-k-five school that is committed to the idea that all children can learn with varying scaffolds. P.S. 62's computer science program exemplifies this by offering students various materials and levels of challenge, allowing them choice and meeting their needs with varied supports. Through this curriculum, P.S. 62 grows students' computational thinking, creativity, collaborative skills, and perseverance, helping them think like computer scientists. Innovation at P.S.62 is all encompassing. All students are given a chance to have hands on, interactive STEM experiences. Every child from Pre-K to Grade 5 is immersed in STEM studies throughout their day and within their academic subjects. The school has created a Playlab, where students are encouraged to participate in the design process and utilize innovative problem solving strategies. P.S. 62 is also the proud home of a working hydroponics lab. Each classroom has a designated makerspace, where they can continue to invent and explore on their own. Our student's work is showcased in our annual school wide Maker Faire. Watch this video capturing some of last year's highlights.
