Social Studies

Students at PS 62 have learned about Civic awareness in their school, community, and state. Our student council members embarked on a field trip to city hall where they witnessed a city hall hearing in progress. From this experience we spoke about the importance of civil discourse and its effectiveness in our society. We also tied this in to current events and learned about the history of the current conflicts in the world. PS 62 was also visited by Pharmacy Students who spoke about the importance of pharmacists in our community and how this could be a possible career path for our students.

PS 62 uses the NYC Passport to Social Studies as a resource to support our current instruction.  Additionally, we plan authentic learning experiences to support the curriculum in the form of trips, shows and various cultural activities.
