Oral Language Program for English Language Learners

This special after school program services our ELL students in grades 3-5.  Students will develop listening and speaking skills through listening to and retelling stories, practical activities requiring use of language, and learning new vocabulary.  They will develop reading and writing skills through learning about grammar and using it in short writing pieces, as well as shared and independent reading activities.  During the course of this program, students will gain skills in listening, speaking, reading and writing in order to achieve English language proficiency on New York State Tests.

Here is a video clip of some of our after school students. They used puppets to create a dialogue between a veterinarian and a dog owner.  This activity helped them practice asking and answering questions as well as greetings.
